about us Karl Willms began designing houses in 1965 and started Willms Design out of his residence in 1973. With his wife and business partner, Eileen, he has renovated and restored a number of heritage homes over the last 40 years and travelled the world extensively. Their many experiences can be found expressed in Willms Design projects such as Japanese timber framing and Mediterranean adobe houses. In 1992, the Willms' purchased and renovated the 1904 Bank of Commerce building in downtown Kamloops and relocated the business to this inspiring working context. Karl's son Kyle joined the firm in 2002, and initiated the use of 3-D modeling in the design process. In addition to their considerable artistic talents, father and son share a passion for thoughtful design. Their collaborative dynamic results in designs that are both practical and innovative. Kyle's wife Monica has since joined the design team bringing a keen eye for aesthetics and an aptitude for space planning. Willms Design continuously strives to meet the changing needs of its clients. Energy conservation and sustainability are important considerations in the design process. The company has served clients from around the world and continues to offer exceptional designs that withstand the test of time.
